Gweithgareddau a Chyflawniadau 2017

Rheolaeth

O dan arweiniad yr Ysgrifennydd, cynhaliwyd adolygiad o’r Cyfansoddiad ar ddechrau’r flwyddyn gyda’r bwriad o 1) diweddaru y cyfansoddiad a 2) ei wneud yn fwy addas at ofynion côr sydd dipyn yn llai o ran nifer nag yr oedd.

Ychwanegwyd at yr “Amcanion” i gynnwys “cynorthwyo achosion elusennol eraill”.

Derbyniwyd y Cyfansoddiad newydd yn unfrydol mewn Cyfarfod Arbenning o’r Côr ym mis Awst, ac yn dilyn hyn, fe’i anfonwyd at y Comisiwn Elusennau.

Swyddogion.

Cymerodd Dewi Jones (B1) (y cyn is-Gadeirydd) drosodd wrth Wyn Evans (B2) fel Cadeirydd y côr yn ôl yr arfer yn ystod y Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol ddiwedd mis Chwefror. Ymddiswyddodd Clive Pugh (B2) fel Ysgrifennydd ar ôl rhoi 4 blynedd o wasanaeth clodwiw, ac etholwyd Huw Michael yn Ysgrifennydd yn ei le.

Derbyniodd Wyn Evans y gwahoddiad i fod yn Is-Gadeirydd unwaith eto, gan nad oedd neb arall wedi ei enwebi.

Aelodaeth

Cynyddwyd y tâl aelodaeth o £90 y flwyddyn i £120 y flwyddyn ar ddechrau 2017 (ar ôl codi o £50 ar ddiwedd 2015) er mwyn sicrhau sefyllfa ariannol mwy derbyniol i ateb costau blynyddol y côr.
Fe gollwyd nifer o aelodau yn ystod y flwyddyn am wahanol resymau. Gadawodd yr aelodau canlynol: Alex Henderson (B2), Philip Johnes (B2), Graham Vaughan (B1), Vince James (B1), Len Blakemore (T1), Ieuan Philips (B1), Vince Harris (T1). Fe wnaeth rhai eraill ymuno â’r côr yn ystod y flwyddyn (Tim Rees (B1), Andrew Thomas (T2), Alun Hughes (T2), a Kevin Thomas (T2). Serch hynny, dim ond Kevin oedd yn dal i fod gyda ni erbyn diwedd y flwyddyn.

Yn ychwanegol at hyn, roedd nifer o aelodau eraill yn absennol am y rhan fwyaf o’r flwyddyn am rhesymau amrywiol (personol, teuluol, iechyd). Gobeithiwn eu gweld nôl gyda ni yn 2018.

Er i ni hysbysebu am aelodau newydd yn Gymraeg ac yn Saesneg yn y Carmarthen Journal dros nifer o wythnosau, aflwyddiannus bu hyn ar y cyfan, a mae’r nifer yn y côr ar ddiwedd 2017 yn llai nag oedd ar ddechrau’r flwyddyn (33 aelod cyson).

Presenoldeb

Tua 26 oedd nifer aelodau’r côr oedd yn bresennol yn y practis wythnosol yn weddol gyson.
O ran y nifer yn y perfformiadau, roedd rhwng 20 a 26 yn bresennol fel arfer. Roedd 29 o gantorion ar y llwyfan ar gyfer y Gyngerdd Flynyddol ar 18fed o Dachwedd.

Cyngherddau

Uchafbwynt y flwyddyn oedd Cyngerdd y Côr yng Nghapel Priordy ar y 18fed o Dachwedd. Cyfranodd yr unawdydd gwâdd, Osian Wyn Bowen (Tenor), Côr Hÿn Ysgol Bro Myrddin, y cyfeilydd gwâdd, Meirion Wynn Jones, a’r offerynwyr ifanc, Hannah and Nick Crowdy, oll at lwyddiant y noswaith. Yn ôl yr adborth a dderbyniwyd gan bobol yn y gynulleidfa, mwynheuodd pawb y gyngerdd. Gwnaethpwyd tua £3000 o elw. Diolchwn hefyd i Mr David Jones (B2) am ei haelioni yn cyfrannu £500 tuag at gostau’r artistiaid. Yr unig siom oedd na lwyddon ni i wethu mwy o docynnau (llai na 200)

Cynhaliwyd cyngherddau eraill yn ystod y flwyddyn hefyd: Neuadd Llannewydd ym mis Mawrth; Army Fest ym Mhenbre ym mis Awst, Eglwys Llanllwch ym mis Medi, a chyngerdd Tenovus yn Eglwys Crist ym mis Rhagfyr.

Hefyd, cymerwyd rhan yn Moliant y Maes yn y Sioe Amaethyddol Frenhinol yn Llanelwedd ym mis Gorffennaf ynghyd â Chôr Llanddarog, Côr Meibion Llanelli a Chôr Meibion HenDyGwyn trwy wahoddiad Mr Brian Jones, Castell Howell a oedd yn Llywydd y sioe yn 2017.

Perfformiodd y côr yn ogystal yn y digwyddiadau canlynol: Cinio Cymdeithas Efeillio Caerfyrddin- Lesneven yng Nghlwb y Cwins; Cymanfa Ganu Capel Tÿ Hen, Alma, Meidrim; a chinio Cymdeithas Holstein yng Ngwesty’r Llwyn Iorwg ym mis Medi.

Priodasau

Trwy ganu mewn 5 priodas (un gwasanaeth adnewyddu llwon) yn ystod y flwyddyn, codwyd arian sylweddol ar gyfer y côr. Cafodd ein perfformiadau dderbyniad da yn y priodasau. Mewn un priodas ym mis Awst, dim ond 13 o gantorion oedd yn bresennol, ac o’r herwydd roion ni ad-daliad o 33% i adlewyrchu hyn.

Angladdau

Canodd y côr yng ngwasanaeth goffa Mrs Rosemary Jones, Trebersed, diweddar wraig David Jones (B2), ym mis Chwefror. Roedd safon uchel y canu y diwrnod hwnnw yn gweddu i’r achlysur, ac roedd 31 o gantorion yn bresennol.

Fe ganon ni hefyd yn dilyn angladd Mr David Lewis yng Nghlwb y Cwins ym mis Mawrth, ac yng ngwasanaeth angladd Mrs Tracey Butcher yn Eglwys San Pedr ddiwedd Medi (Tracey oedd merch Huw Williams (B2)).

Elusennau

Canodd y côr yn M&S ddwywaith i godi arian dros elusennau dewisiedig M&S: £300 i elusen cancr plant (LATCH) ym mis Mawrth, a £130 i Hospis Skanda Vale, Rhos, Llangeler ym mis Rhagfyr. Yn ogystal, cyfrannodd y côr £50 i Uned Oncoleg, Ysbyty Glangwili ym mis Rhagfyr yn dilyn Plygain Merched y Wawr oherwydd bod y côr wedi ffaelu cymryd rhan o achos tywydd eira.

Repertoire
Ychwanegwyd tri darn newydd i repertoire y côr yn 2017: Yn Y Man, Y Darlun a Tell My Father, i’w cynnwys yn ein rhaglen ar gyfer y Gyngerdd ym mis Tachwedd. Mae repertoire y côr erbyn hyn wedi ei restru ar wefan y côr.

Arweinydd a Chyfeilyddes
Dymuna’r Ymddiriedolwyr fynegi eu gwerthfawrogiad am wasanaeth Mr Wyn Maskell (erbyn hyn yn “Barchedig”) a Ms Heather Williams. Rydyn yn ffodus iawn i’w cael.

Trustees Annual Report 2017
Charity Name: Cymdethas Côr Meibion Caerfyrddin
Charity Registration Number: 259482
Charity Address: The address of the Secretary (Tÿ Hir, Picton Court, Caerrfyrddin SA31 3DQ) Trustees:
Dewi Jones (Chairman) Wyn Evans Vice-Chairman) Dylan Jones (Treasurer) Huw Michael (Secretary)
Governing document: Constitution adopted at Choir EGM on 22/08/2017
Objects:
The objects of the Choir shall be the advancement of public education in the art of choral music, and the learning and public performance of choral works, whilst assisting charitable causes.
Activities, Achievements and Performance during 2017.
Governance
The Choir initiated a review of the existing Constitution early in the year with a view to 1) bringing the governing document up to date, and 2) making it better reflect the size of the choir that exists these days.
The Secretary took the lead in revising the Constitution including amending the “Objects” to ensure that supporting other charIties was included. The revised Constitution was accepted unanimously at an EGM held in August, and submitted to the Charity Commission.
Officials.
Dewi Jones (previously Vice-Chairman) took over from Wyn Evans as Chairman at the AGM on 28 February, 2017. Clive Pugh, Secretary, stood down after 4 years’ of service, and was replaced by Huw Michael. Wyn Evans was accepted as Vice-Chairman again, there being no other nominations.
Membership
The annual membership fee was increased from £90 to £120 per year in 2017 (having been increased from £50 at the end of 2015) in order to establish a more secure financial basis for the choir on an ongoing basis.
The choir lost a number of members during the year for various reasons . Those who left the choir were: Alex Henderson (B2), Philip Johnes (B2), Graham Vaughan (B1), Vince James (B1), Len Blakemore (T1), Ieuan Phillips (B1), Vince Harris (T1). Some others joined the choir during the year (Tim Rees (B1), Andrew Thomas (T2), Alun Hughes (T2), and Kevin Thomas (T2). However only Kevin remained with the choir by the end of the year.
In addition, a number of members were absent from rehearsals for most of the year for personal, health and family reasons. We hope that these choristers will be able to attend more regularly in 2018.
Despite extensive publicity to encourage new members in the Carmarthen Journal, we are left with a smaller choir at the end of 2017 (33 active members) than we had at the beginning of the year.
Attendance
Attendance at rehearsals was fairly consistent around the 26 mark.

Attendance at performances was a at a similar, sometimes lower level, between 20 and 26. For the choir concert on 18 November we had 29 choristers on stage.
Concerts
The highlight of the year was the Choir’s concert at Capel Priordy on 18th of November. The guest soloist, Osian Wyn Bowen (Tenor), the Bro Myrddin school choir, guest accompanist,Meirion Wynn Jones, and young musicians , Hannah and Nick Crowdy, made a major contrbution to the success of the evening. The concert seemed to be enjoyed by all who attended based on feedback received. Approximately £3000 profit was achieved on the evening. The choir’s thanks are also extended to Mr David Jones (B2) who generously sponsored the guest artistes to the tune of £500.
The one disappointing aspect was that we sold fewer than 200 tickets.
Other concerts held during the year were: Llannewydd/ Newchurch village hall in March; Army Fest in Pembrey in August, Llanllwch church in September, and Tenovus at Christchurch in December.
In addition, the choir participated in Moliant y Maes at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show in Builth Wells in July along with Côr Llanddarog, Côr Meibion Llanelli and Côr Meibion HenDyGwyn at the invitation of Mr Brian Jones, Castell Howell who was Show President in 2017.
Other performances included: Carmarthen- Lesneven Twinning Association dinner at the Quins Club; Cymanfa Ganu Capel Tÿ Hen, Alma, Meidrim; and the Holstein Club dinner at the Ivy Bush in September.
Weddings
We sang at 5 weddings (one renewal of vows) during the year raising valuable income for the choir. Our performances were well received at all the weddings. The one disappiointing turnout was in mid August when only 13 choristers were present. We gave the client a 33% discount on the agreed price to reflect this disappointing turnout.
Funerals
The choir sang at the memorial service for Mrs Rosemary Jones, Trebersed, David Jones (B2)’s late wife, in February . The choir’s singing was of an appropriately high standard that day with 31 choristers in attendance.
We also sang at the funeral wake of Mr David Lewis at the Quins Club in March, and at the funersl service of Mrs Tracey Butcher at St Peter’s Church at the end of September (Tracey was the daughter of Huw Williams (B2)).
Charities
The choir sang at M&S on two occasions raising money for M&S chosen charities: £300 for the children’s cancer charity (LATCH)i in March, and £130 for the Skanda Vale Hospice in Rhos, Llangeler in December. In addition the choir donated £50 to the Oncology Unit st Glangwili Hospital in December, in connection with the Plygain on December 10th which the choir was unable to attend due to the weather.
Repertoire
The choir added 3 new items to its repertoire in 2017: Yn Y Man, Y Darlun and Tell My Father, all of which were performed at the concert in November.
The choir’s repertoire is now listed on the choir’s website.

Conductor and accompanist
The Trustees wish to express their appreciation of the services of Mr Wyn Maskell (now Reverend) and Ms Heather Williams. We are indeed fortunate to have these two talented musicians at our service.
